Rodney was born on April 7, 1939 in Brohard, WV to Noble and Delta (Davis) Busch.
He graduated from Wirt County High School and Glenville State College. He went on to receive his Master’s Degree
in Theater Arts from Penn State. Rodney worked in public education; teaching at Washington Junior High School in
Parkersburg, at Glenville State College and Virginia Commonwealth University. He later left teaching to work in the
private sector; employed by General Electric and Virginia State Police as a brochure director.
Rodney was an avid traveler and had a passion for theater and art; he directed many plays while teaching at
Glenville State College and VCU to include Macbeth, Brigadoon, and Gypsy. He was an avid walker of Richmond’s
Byrd Parks Walking Trail over the past 20 years where he made many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Delta and his brother, Kendall Busch.
Mr. Busch is survived by a brother, Dr. Trent (Carol) Busch of Valdosta, GA; a sister, Judith Busch Maxwell of
Stuarts Draft, VA; nieces, Kelli (Jay) White, Laura (James) Carper, and Jorena Maxwell Simpkins; nephews, Bret
Busch, and Rob (Julie) Maxwell; a step-niece, Felicia (Jim) Thurman; a step-nephew, Ben Winkler; great-nieces
Peyton Carper and Emma Kate Maxwell; and great-nephews, Jamie (Kate) White, Chase Simpkins, Davis Simpkins,
Bryson Simpkins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
It is suggested, that those desiring to make memorial contributions do so to the Hartley Cemetery, c/o Harry Dye,
440 Hartley Ridge, Brohard, WV 26138.
