Derek H. Blume, 25


Derek Hans Blume, 25, of Rockville, Md., died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Blume was born May 8, 1981, in Norfolk, and was the son of Twila Blume of Rockville, Md. and Dieter Blume of Falls Church and stepson of John Ovington of Rockville, Md. and Anne Voegele of Falls Church. His grandparents are Lois Fisher of Harrisonburg and Hans and Eva Blume of Hampton.

He graduated from the A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland, and was an electronics engineer working for a contractor of the Naval Research Laboratory.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Warwick River Mennonite Church Cemetery in Newport News with the Rev. Samuel Weaver of Harrisonburg officiating.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at W.J. Smith Funeral Home in Newport News.
