Dr. David R. Bluhm, 95
Dr. David R. Bluhm, 95, of Harrisonburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at the Sunnyside Presbyterian Home in Harrisonburg.
Dr. Bluhm was born May 19, 1912, in Spokane, Wash., and was the son of the late Conrad R. and Virginia May Henry Bluhm.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University in 1933 and graduated from Princeton Theological in 1936. He received his Masters in Psychology and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Waynesburg College.
He was a Presbyterian minister in many Pennsylvania churches for 10 years. In 1954 he became the Professor of Religion and Psychology at the University of Northern Iowa, where he retired in 1977. After retirement he moved to Florida, then to Shenandoah County in the late 1980’s and moved to Sunnyside in July 1989.
In June 1938 he married Margaret Rohrbaugh; she preceded him in death Sept. 17, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, D. Rodney Bluhm of Oconomowock Wis., and Henry K. Bluhm of Annandale, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Paul O’Gorek will conduct a memorial service 2 p.m. Monday at the Meredith Chapel at Sunnyside.
