Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Barb, 80, of Jerome (Edinburg), passed away on October 13, 2022, at her home in Jerome. A funeral
service will be held Monday, October 17, 2022, at 10:30am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Jerome Parish. Pastor Robin Ferree
and Reverend Harold Burnette will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Barb was born on July 21, 1942, in Hudson Crossroads, VA, to Benjamin F. Miller and Pearlie M. (Lindamood) Miller. She
graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1961. She owned and operated Barb Day Care until her retirement in 2015.
She had 50 plus years of love and dedication to children and youth with youth activities and Sunday school at St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church, Charlottesville, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jerome. She worked with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl
Scouts in Charlottesville and Shenandoah County for more than 50 years. Even in her older years when she could no longer
lead with these organizations she still loved and encouraged these children and youth. When she was out in the community it
was always like a magnet between her and children, the children loved her as much as she did them. She was the recipient of
many awards for her work with children and youth, including District Award of Merit, The Silver Beaver, and The Lamb award.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jerome.
