Wiley H. Austin

Wiley Hudson Austin, 79, of Shenandoah, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Martinsburg Veterans Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Mr. Austin was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Shenandoah, and was the son of the late Chelous H. and Lena G. Dovel Austin.

He was a plumber/pipe fitter and worked for various companies over the years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving two tours of duty in the American, European-African and Middle Eastern Theater, including the Battles of Ardennes and Rhineland.

Mr. Austin was a member of the Avis O. Comer VFW Post 8613 in Shenandoah.

He is survived by three sons, Charles Seay of Clifton Forge, and Lawrence Seay and Lorne Seay, both of Stanley; three daughters, Darlene Turner, and Lena Terry, both of Shenandoah, and Brenda Comer of Stanley; two brothers, Paul Austin and Curtis Austin, both of Shenandoah; two sisters, Helen J. Gardiner of Pratts, Va., and Jackie Stanley of Shenandoah; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The Rev. Ronald Spencer and Brother Homer Frazier will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at Full Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle in Elkton. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the home of his daughter, Brenda Comer, 164 Chapel Village Road in Stanley, at any time.
