Obituary Transcript  if Available

Laura Christensen Armstrong’s mortal walk ended peacefully at home on Sunday, October 23, 2022. But her eternal
adventures have just begun.
Laura was born November 24, 1967, in Othello, Washington. In 2001, she was diagnosed with scleroderma, an
autoimmune disease. At the time, doctors suggested she had up to seven years to live.
While they might have been acquainted with her disease, they didn’t know her tenacious spirit. Over the next two
decades, despite being diagnosed with additional diseases, she would shatter expectations and continue living,
loving, and learning.
Today, though her body is at peace, the Armstrong family’s faith assures them that Laura’s spirit is alive, well, and
already busy doing the Lord’s work.
Laura and her husband Tracy moved their family from Washington State to the Shenandoah Valley in 2002. They
raised their three children on one of many apple orchards they managed in the valley and over the years became
involved in their church, community, and local schools.
She loved her many roles as wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Laura also enjoyed reading, crafting,
serving others, and following her hometown high school football team — The Royal Knights. She was immensely
proud of her talented nieces and nephews and never let the miles between them stop her from cheering them on.
Laura was a lifelong Christian and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Tracy
were sealed (married) for time and eternity in the Seattle Temple on July 17, 1987.
She is survived by her father, Shirley D. Christensen and a small army of protective brothers and in-laws she deeply
adored. They are Brian (Connie), Steve (Sheri), Alan (Cheryl), Larry (Katie), and Lynn (Jamie). Another brother, Kent,
died at two months old and Laura looked forward to their reunion.
Her beloved children are Kayla Bennett (Wes), Michael, and Cami Oringdulph (Alex). Even her family would agree
her favorite people were her grandchildren Elizabeth, Dexter, and Mackenzie. Any future grandchildren are likely
meeting Grandma and hearing stories about their parents on the other side.
Laura is also preceded in death by her dear mother and loving mentor, Geniel Johnson Christensen. Their heavenly
embrace on Sunday was something Laura longed for.
A viewing will be held at Stover Funeral Home and Crematory in Strasburg on Friday, October 28 from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 11 a.m. (PDT) at the Royal 1st & 2nd Ward chapel in
Othello (Royal Camp), Washington. It will be broadcast online and viewing information is forthcoming.
Stover Funeral Home & Crematory, Strasburg, VA is serving the family of Laura Armstrong.
