Betty Lou Armstrong, 68
Betty Lou Armstrong, 68, of Harrisonburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2011.
Betty was born in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Oscar and Emma Snyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Grogg, two sisters and four brothers.
Betty was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and had worked as a nurse for the Rockingham Community Services Board for many years until retiring in 2009.
In 1978, she married Josiah "Joe" Armstrong, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Robert Grogg Jr. of Linville; two daughters, Tammy Whitmer and husband, Russell, and Lori Ann Mitchell, both of Harrisonburg; two stepsons, James Armstrong and wife, Dawn, and Donald Armstrong; two stepdaughters, Patty Armstrong and Kathy Shelton and husband, Jim; one brother, Vernon Snyder of Lexington; three sisters, Shirley Williams and husband, Charlie, of Bridgewater, Alice Foley of Winchester, and Ruby Hoover of Rileyville; seven grandchildren, Heather Grogg, Chasity Grogg, Dakota Grogg, Hunter Grogg, Shawn Brown, William Grogg and Angel Grogg; eight great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Sherry Grogg of Harrisonburg.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jeff Ferguson and the Rev. Michael Mehling officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of the family.
