Francis E. Armentrout, 77


Francis Eugene "Gene" Armentrout, 77, of 165 Logan Lane, Harrisonburg, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at his home.

Mr. Armentrout was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Walter E. Armentrout and Helen Phillips Armentrout Fout.

He graduated from Broadway High School and attended the University of Virginia. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and lived and worked in the Washington D.C. area. He moved back to Harrisonburg in 1982, where he worked for the United States Forestry Department until retiring.

Survivors include a sister, Audrey A. Cook of Harrisonburg; a brother, Walter E. Armentrout Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; two nieces and two nephews.

The Rev. Jeffrey Butcher will conduct a graveside service 2 p.m. today at Woodbine Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The casket will be closed.
