Elva B. Armentrout

Elva Brock Armentrout, 92, of Willow Estates Retirement Home in Harrisonburg, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Armentrout was born Sept. 10, 1912, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late D.A. and Virginia Florence Koontz Brock.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Fellowship United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the W.S.C.S. She was also a member of the Fellowship Home Extension Club. She attended Harrisonburg State Teachers College, now James Madison University.

On Aug. 13, 1939, she married Layton O. Armentrout, who preceded her in death Feb. 29, 1980.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Dian Davis of Harrisonburg; a son, Larry Layton Armentrout of Broadway; a sister, Mildred Brock Hull of Lacey Spring and four grandchildren.

Pastor Charlene Landes will conduct a graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lacey Spring Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. The casket will be closed.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad or the Broadway Rescue Squad.
