Ann Barbara Reitter Armentrout, 89


Mrs. Ann Barbara Reitter Armentrout, 89, formerly of New Market, died at 12:30 Tuesday morning, April 1, 2008, at Loyalton of Harrisonburg, where she had been a resident since Nov. 1, 2007. She had not been well for the past week.

A daughter of the late John and Anna Sellner Reitter, she was born on July 26, 1918 in Sleepy Eye, Minn. Mrs. Armentrout had worked for the FBI. Following her retirement there, she worked for the CIA, where she also retired. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

On Oct. 8, 1954, she married Camden Cowan Armentrout, who preceded her in death on July 13, 1999.

She is survived by one sister, Alice Mary Hudson of Burnsville, Minn.; nieces and nephews, John Reitter, William Reitter, Barbara Ann Reitter, and Mary Ann Reitter, all of Minnesota and Gwen Stearn of Harrisonburg; a great-nephew, DeLee Stearn of Harrisonburg; a godson, Michael McNulty of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Reitter, and a special friend, Betty Morris. She was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Reitter, and two sisters, Eleanor Yest and Florence Beakke.

Funeral services will be held at ten o’clock Friday morning from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Deacon Fred LaSpina officiating. Burial will follow in Woodbine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. The casket will not be opened.

The Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
