Tony S. Arey, 52


Tony Stanford Arey, 52, a resident of Harrisonburg, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Arey was born on Feb. 7, 1958, in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late Stanford and Bernice Pope Arey. He was a graduate of Turner Ashby High School. He was self-employed as a truck driver since he was 22 years old and drove for Virginia Procurement for the past eight years. He was an avid Poker Star player.

In 1981, he married the former Linda Bocook, who survives.

Also surviving are eight children, Justin Eagle Arey, Matthew Addison Arey, Amy Afton Arey, Brielle Amber Arey, Miranda Kendall Arey, Chelsey Jasmine Arey, Hannah Shelby Arey and Makalya Marleta Arey; brothers and sisters, Sharon Showalter and husband, Richard, and Gregory Arey and wife, Connie, all of Harrisonburg, and Yvonne Michael and husband, Jimmy, of Elkton; and a granddaughter, Kayle Cora Arey.

The Rev. John Jantzi will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Mount Bethel Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home.
