Leona K. Arey, 84


Leona Kestler Arey, 84, of 9915 Jess Arey Lane in Dayton, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005.

Mrs. Arey was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Baltimore, Md., and was a daughter of the late John E. and Dorothy Snibby Kestler.

She lived in the Baltimore area during her early life and had lived in the Dayton area since 1962. She attended school in Maryland and was an inspector at Ethan Allen in Bridgewater. She was a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Eagle Club and the VFW.

On Oct. 19, 1948, she married Clifford Arey, who preceded her in death April 8, 1978.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Arey and Dennis Arey, both of Dayton; a daughter, Dianne Thompson of Dayton; a sister, Dorothy Wilson of Baltimore; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Arey will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with the Rev. W.L. "Sonny" Henkel officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be private at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
