Goldie M. Arey, 82


Goldie Mae Arey, 82, of Luray, Va., died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at MontVue Nursing Home in Luray.

Mrs. Arey was born Nov. 14, 1926, in Luray, and was a daughter of the late William Jacob Gochenour and Grace Ellen (Cave) Gochenour.

She was a member of Mount Zion Church of the Brethren.

On June 27, 1949, she married Harry “Ed” Arey, who died Oct. 22, 1995.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Cave Arey of Buckhannon, W.Va., Michael Blane Arey of Boise, Idaho, and Kevin Greg Arey of Buckhannon, W.Va.; a daughter, Edwyna Michelle Arey of Athens, Ga.; a stepson, Edwin Wayne Arey of Staunton; five brothers, Ashby W. Gochenour of Luray, Leroy Gochenour of Stanley, Hunter Gochenour of Harrisonburg, Dwight (Whitey) Gochenour of Williamsburg and Ikey Gochenour of Luray; three sisters, Charlotte Higgins and Frances Seekford, both of Luray, and Nancy Ann Tusing of Woodstock; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Truman Wine Arey; four brothers, Gail Gochenour, Ivan (Bobby) Theodore Gochenour, Aubry Gochenour and Donald Gochenour; a sister, Rosella Koutsounadis, and a grandchild.

Pastor Gary Major, the Rev. Mike Forney and Leroy Gochenour will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Mount Zion Church of the Brethren. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
