George W. Arbogast Sr.

George William Arbogast Sr., 80, of 8th Street, Moorefield, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at his residence.

Mr. Arbogast was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Morgantown, W.Va., and was the son of the late William B. and Madge P. Summers Arbogast.

His wife, Clarise Smith Arbogast, preceded him in death in April 1992.

Surviving are three sons, Robert B. Arbogast and George W. Arbogast Jr. of New Freedom, Pa., and David A. Arbogast of Sparks, Md.; a daughter, A. Joyce Purkey of Freeland, Md.; four sisters, Pearl Gardner, Hazel Rodriguez, Betty Hobson and Mary Ann Stewart, all of Cleveland, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield, W.Va. At the conclusion of the service, at Mr. Arbogast’s request, he will be cremated and his ashes will be interred at a later date at the Bethel Cemetery in Old Fields, W.Va.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
