Debra J. Appleton

Debra J. Appleton, 50, of 11803 Lovers Leap Road in Hinton, died suddenly Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at her home.

Mrs. Appleton was born Sept. 14, 1954, in Millersburg, Ohio, and was a daughter of Leroy Smith and Harriet Albertson of Ohio.

She lived in the Harrisonburg area for 25 years. She was employed at Brockway for five years and was currently employed at R.R. Donnelley.

On Dec. 7, 1979, she married James C. "Jim" Appleton, who survives.

In addition to her parents and husband, survivors include a daughter, Heather Allison of Harrisonburg; two sons, Joshua Appleton of Harrisonburg, and Scott Appleton of Hinton; two stepsons, Tim Appleton of Akron, Ohio, and David Mitchell Appleton of Wooster, Ohio; two sisters, Janell Braddock of Wooster, Ohio and Teresa Ogle of Big Prairie, Ohio; a brother, Dan Smith of Wooster, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

The Rev. Steve Bird will conduct a memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dayton United Methodist Church. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
