Charles E. Andrews, 83


The Rev. Charles Edwin Andrews, 83, of Spruce Street in New Manchester, W.Va., died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, W.Va.

Rev. Andrews was born July 11, 1923, in Baltimore, Md., and was a son of the late Charles Andrews and Bertha Disney Andrews.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He graduated from Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Winchester. He was an ordained Elder and retired member of the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. From 1975 until his retirement in 1999, he served as pastor of churches in Hancock County, namely, Trinity, Point Pleasant and Nessly Chapel and the First Church of Chester.

Survivors include his wife, Shelva Dove Andrews; a daughter, Carol Anne Andrews of Murrysville, Pa.; two sisters, Doris Grable of Ridgely, Md. and Carol Simmons of Linthicum, Md.; and a brother, Carroll Andrews of Coral Springs, Fla.

The Rev. Robert Staub will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Turley Funeral Home in New Cumberland, W.Va.
