Martha L. Andes, 100


Martha Lucy Andes, 100, of Woodstock, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock.

Miss Andes was born April 2, 1911, in Timberville, daughter of the late Emmanuel D. and Bernice Kesner Andes. She was a member of Mount Olivet Church of the Brethren and attended Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn George, and brothers, Carson Andes, Paul Andes, Lawrence Andes, John Andes, Ivan Andes and Herman Andes and special friend Franklin Custer.

She is survived by two sisters, Ava Tusing and Helen Foltz both of Edinburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Reverends Jerry Ruff and Lee Smith will officiate a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, at Mount Olivet Church of the Brethren in Timberville. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Foltz, Mike Andes, Larry Andes, Charles George, Art Tusing and Bill Lam.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock and Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olivet Cemetery Fund or Blue Ridge Hospice.
