Jane H. Andes, 88


Mrs. Jane H. Andes, 88, of Grottoes, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, while in the company of family members at her home.

Jane was born in Ladd, Va., on Nov. 18, 1922, and was a daughter of the late Edward and Ora (Tyree) Harner.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, where she had formerly served as Sunday school superintendent. She was a lifelong resident of Augusta County.

She was united in marriage on June 3, 1944, to Everett Ray (John) Andes, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Diana Soloman and husband, Seymour, of Grottoes, and Susan Michael and husband, John, of Mount Crawford; and a son, Jerry Ray Andes and wife, Kathy, of Grottoes. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Connie Cash, Donna Cash Graber and husband, Greg, and Amy H. Harris and husband, Ryan; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Andes Goethe of Gainesville, Fla., and Hazel Bulle Andes of Grottoes.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters. She was the last member of her immediate family.

A memorial service will held at Johnson Funeral Service, Grottoes Chapel, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, with the Rev. Daniel Wine and Brother Mike Skillman officiating. Private burial will be at Augusta Memorial Park and Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home or anytime at her home.
