Sherry B. Anderson, 55


Sherry Burcham Anderson, 55, devoted wife and mother, died on Tuesday morning, Jan. 6, 2009.

She was born on Dec. 9, 1953, in Waynesboro, and was the daughter of Gordon and Joyce Francis Burcham of Colonial Heights, Va.

Prior to moving to Harrisonburg, Sherry lived in Colonial Heights. She attended Mary Washington College and graduated from Madison College, now JMU. She was employed at Beverley Manor Middle School in Augusta County, Keister Elementary School in Harrisonburg, and most recently at the child development clinic at JMU. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was active in the hand bell choir. She was a leader in the Girl Scouts and enjoyed jogging and bicycling.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Edward H. Anderson, whom she married on July 29, 1979. Also surviving are four children, Addison H. Anderson, Emily Carter Anderson, and Mary Joyce Anderson, all of Harrisonburg, and Rebecca Ellen Anderson of Richmond; four brothers, Randy G. Burcham and wife, Debbie, of Rockville, Va., Robert Mark Burcham and wife, Rhonda, James K. Burcham and Thomas J. Burcham, all of Colonial Heights, Va.; in-laws, David Chesterman Anderson Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., Mary Anderson Martens and husband, Steve, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Beverly M. Anderson of Broadway, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Anderson will be cremated at Lindsey Funeral Homes and Crematory in Harrisonburg and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
