Robert E. Anderson, 83


Robert Ellis "Bob" Anderson, 83, of Dayton, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born in Washington, D.C., on July 9, 1927, and was a son of the late George William and Meda Blanche (Miller) Anderson.

He retired in 1998 from Dunham-Bush in Harrisonburg. He began a poultry farm in 1984 and farmed for 22 years for Perdue.

Bob was a member of Briery Branch Church of the Brethren. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was united in marriage on Oct. 20, 1951, to Margaret Marie (Auville) Anderson of Dayton, who is currently in rehab at the Bridgewater Home.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are three sons, Robert Jeffery Anderson and wife, Michele, of Harrisonburg, Gregory Kent Anderson and Sharon Hensley of Dayton, and Bradley Carl Anderson and wife, Lorie, of Dayton; three sisters, Jean Lambert of Stafford, Va., Helen Sheffer of Bridgewater, and Kathryn "Kitty" Hosaflook of Churchville; three brothers, George Anderson Jr. of Upper Tract, W.Va., Harlan Anderson of Dayton, Va., and Fred Anderson of Bridgewater. He is also survived by six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Briery Branch Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, with Pastor Randy Cosner officiating. Burial will follow at Briery Branch Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 18, 2011, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
