Nelson Anderson


Nelson Anderson, of Harrisonburg, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Nelson was born in Harrisonburg on Oct. 14, 1933, and was the son of the late John and Cornelia Anderson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Anderson. He attended both Broadway and Harrisonburg High Schools and was a member of the Army Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He was a crane operator for Dean Steel until he was injured in 1985. His great sense of humor, kindhearted spirit, and helpful nature will be sincerely missed by his family and friends who all loved him dearly.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cora Corbin Anderson; two sons, Andy Anderson Jr. of Stephen City, and Michael Anderson of Stone Ridge, N.Y.; two daughters, Connie Morbach of Troy, Mich., and Kathy Anderson of Kerhonkson, N.Y.; four sisters, Beatrice Lawson, Lula Heatwole, Dorothy Fulk, and Juanita Sheffer and husband, Billy; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews who also loved him dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 10, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with the Rev. Kelly Lane officiating.
