George F. Anderson, 83


George Franklin Anderson, 83, of Weyers Cave, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Anderson was born on Nov. 5, 1925, in Augusta County, and was the son of the late Edward Lewis and Mary Margarette Sweet Anderson.

George worked for Shank Beverage Co., and most recently worked for Virginia Well Drilling before retiring in 1990. He also owned and operated Anderson’s Water Hauling for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, and was a member of the Rion-Bowman VFW Post No. 632.

He is survived by a daughter, Penny Sue Anderson of Harrisonburg; a son, James Edward Anderson of Westminster, Md.; and special friends, Larry and Barbara Harold. He was preceded in death by a son, George Franklin Anderson Jr.; brothers, Carl, Roy and William; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Frances Price.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
