W. Vinton Alt, 81


William Vinton Alt, 81, of Upper Tract, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at the E.A. Hawse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Baker, W.Va.

Mr. Alt was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Landes, W.Va., and was the son of the late Enoch Alt and Sarah Ratcliff Alt.

He retired from V.R. Mowry Inc. in Petersburg, W.Va. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a life member of the VFW Post 6454. He attended the Brushy Run Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Alice VanMeter Alt; a son. Michael Alt of Upper Tract, W.Va.; and a brother, Roy E. Alt of Cabins, W.Va.

The Rev. Bruce Cosner will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Post 6454 and the JROTC.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home.
