Roy E. Alt, 79


Roy Edward Alt, 79, of Cabins, W.Va., died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va.

Mr. Alt was born May 30, 1928, in Smoke Hole, W.Va., and was the son of the late Enoch Alt and Sarah Ratcliff Alt.

He was a member of the West Virginia Laborer's Local 984 in Clarksburg, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Mae VanMeter Alt.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Joy Ours Engle Alt; a stepson, Matthew O. Engle of Cabins, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Teresa A. Barr of Petersburg, W.Va.; three stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was the last survivor of his immediate family.

The Rev. Joseph Eversole and Pastor Calvin Redman Sr. will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. today at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, W.Va.

Friends were received Sunday at the funeral home.
