Raymond C. Alt, 88


Raymond Clinton Alt, 88, of Landes, W.Va., died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va.


Mr. Alt was born May 28, 1918, in Landes, W.Va., and was the son of the late David C. Alt and Virginia Kimble Alt.


He was a lifelong farmer and painter. He was a member of Bethel Church of the Brethren and Landes Ruritan Club.


His wife, Opal Kimble Alt, preceded him in death Aug. 5, 2005.


Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy “Dottie” Hartman and Patricia “Pattie” Smith, both of Petersburg, W.Va.; four sons, Dennis C. Alt of Beverly, W.Va., Raymond Alt Jr. of Inwood, W.Va., and Douglas W. Alt and Sherrill “Mac” Alt, both of Petersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Dora VanMeter and Nina Sabo, both of Petersburg, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Pastor Greg Rotruck will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be in the Alt Family Cemetery in Landes, W.Va.


The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
