Ethel M. Alt

Ethel M. Alt, 85, of the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin, W.Va., and formerly of Upper Tract, W.Va., died Monday, May 12, 2003, at the nursing home, where she had lived for several years.

Mrs. Alt was born Dec. 19, 1917, in Mozer, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Perry M. Ratliff and Lena S. Kesner Ratliff.

She was a homemaker and employed at the Franklin Garment Company. She was a member of Christ Central Community Church in Upper Tract.

On Oct. 21, 1958, she married Joseph C. Alt, who preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1961.

She is survived by five sisters, Ersley Whetzel and Hazel Simmons, both of Franklin, W.Va., Vada Mallow of Kline, W.Va., Genevieve May of Maysville, W.Va., and Nancy Mongold of Rough Run, W.Va.; two brothers, Arthur Ratliff of Harrisonburg, and Homer Ratliff of Baltimore; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Ed Null will conduct the funeral 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ Central Community Church in Upper Tract, W.Va. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract.

Friends may call at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
