Devin L. Alt

Devin Lee Alt, 18, of Dorcas, W.Va., died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville as the result of an automobile accident.

Mr. Alt was born March 15, 1984, in Winchester, and was a son of Daniel D. Alt and Terri L. Smith Alt of Dorcas, W.Va.

He graduated from Petersburg High School in 2002 and was co-captain of the Petersburg Vikings Football and Wrestling teams. He was named Who’s Who in wrestling and was state qualifier for two years. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Athletic Club, the Vocational School Vica Club and the Sand Mooses Softball Team.

He had been accepted at Fairmont State College, and during the summer, he was employed by the West Virginia Department of Highways in Burlington, W.Va. He was a member of Brake Church of the Brethren and West Marva District Youth Ministry Team. He attended Mission trips to New Mexico and New York and also attended Petersburg First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Danielle Alt, and a brother, Derek Alt, both of Dorcas; his grandparents, Dayton and Bonnie Smith of Petersburg, W.Va., Darl D. Alt and Delores Sites Alt Propst of Dorcas; his step-grandfather, Thomas Propst Jr., and great-grandparents, Lettie and Leo Sites, all of Dorcas.

The Revs. Craig A. Howard and David H. Blackwell will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at the Petersburg First Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Whispering Winds Cemetery, Dorcas, W.Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Missions Scholarship Fund or a charity of choice.
