Rodger H. Allman

Rodger Hobert Allman, 94, of Dayton, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he had lived since 2002.

Mr. Allman was born March 21, 1910, in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late William Daniel and Mary Susan Howdyshell Allman.

He retired after 36 years of service from the Bridgewater Furniture (Ethan-Allen), where he worked in the shop. He enjoyed hunting and played baseball for the county league.

On Oct. 28, 1933, he married Mary Susan Shank, who preceded him in death July 21, 1999.

He is survived by three children, Carolyn Allman Armentrout of Keezletown, and Harold Allman and Irvin C. Allman, both of Dayton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pastor Randy Cosner will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at the Briery Branch Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
