Elizabeth R. Allen

Mrs. Elizabeth Robinson Allen, 95, of Harrisonburg, died Dec. 10, 2003, at Sunnyside Retirement Community, where she had resided for over six years.

Mrs. Allen was born Dec. 20, 1907, and was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C.R. Robinson of Max Meadows, Wythe County, Va.

Mrs. Allen was a teacher at Mount Clinton Elementary School for 15 years. She was a longtime member of the Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church.

On Dec. 30, 1929, she married Rev. Henry Guthrie Allen, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1976. Surviving are a son, Guthrie Allen and wife, Peggy, of Harrisonburg; a daughter, Ms. Elizabeth Allen Morley of Harrisonburg; and three granddaughters, Elizabeth King Morley, Raleigh, N.C., Ann Shawver and husband, Jeffery, Roanoke, Va., and Sarah Ladd and husband, Bobby, Edwards, Colo.

The Rev. George Evans will conduct a graveside service Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater. Friends may call at the home of her son, Guthrie Allen, 826 Oakwood Drive, Harrisonburg, at any time.

McMullen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family request that flowers be omitted. The casket will be closed.
