Charles H. Allen

Charles H. "Charlie" Allen, 86, of Boyers Road in Harrisonburg, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond.

He was born Dec. 17, 1918, in Martinsburg, W.Va., and was the son of the late Nina Pearl Helbert and stepfather, W.D. Helbert.

Charlie was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the past president of the Keezletown Ruritan Club. He retired from Valley Dale Meat Packers in Salem, Va. as a salesman.

On Nov. 10, 1945, he married Margaret Armentrout Allen, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela Layman and husband, Kenneth, of Richmond, and Betty Sismanoglou of Fredericksburg.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Eastlawn Cemetery by the Rev. Doyle Payne.

His body is at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The casket will be closed.
