Mr. Allen was a country music fan who loved to play his steel guitar. He was an avid fisherman here in the Valley, taking his children with him and later in life, teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He had a great love for baseball, but nothing matched his love for his family and his grandchildren.

On Dec. 24, 1945, he married Margaret Alice Louderback who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Allen and wife Sharon of Harrisonburg, and Gary Allen of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Sharon Wright of Harrisonburg; one sister, Ressie Dovel of Towson, Md.; ten grandchildren, Kim Moubray, who was raised by Mr. Allen, Aaron Wright, Sheila Allen, Shawn Allen, Chad O. Funeral services will be conducted 12 Noon on Saturday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg by the Rev. Paul O‘Gorek and Rev. Tom Smith. Burial with military rites will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
