Betty J. Alger, 69


Betty Jane Alger, 69, of 385 Sandy Hook Road in Luray, died Monday, May 12, 2008, in Luray.

Mrs. Alger was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Charles Town, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Paul E. Hilliards and Virgie Virginia Rhinehart Hilliards.

On Oct. 25, 1958, she married James A. Alger, who preceded her in death Jan. 21, 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan Cathy Sowers; two sons, James Bruce Alger and Guy Lynwood Alger; and two brothers, Roy Gene Hilliards and Paul Edwards Hilliards Jr., all of Luray; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pastor Chris Palmer will conduct a graveside service 2 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
