Richard L. Alexander Jr.

Richard Lee Alexander Jr., 50, of Shenandoah, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at his home. He had lived in Page County for the past 18 years.

Mr. Alexander was born Nov. 24, 1952, in Alexandria, and was the son of Mollie Harrison Alexander of New Market and the late Richard L. Alexander Sr.

He graduated from Broadway High School in 1971 and was employed at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department as a jailor.

On Aug. 31, 1985, he married the former Carolyn Jones, who survives. He is also survived by three sisters, Darlene Ritchie and Robin Alexander, both of Broadway, and Connie Butzler of Independence, Mo.

The Rev. David Nakivell will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Market.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
