June P. Alexander, 83


June P. Alexander, 83, of Quicksburg, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at her home.

Mrs. Alexander was born July 18, 1922, in Sugar Grove, and was the daughter of Muncie and Mary Pafford.

She graduated from Marion Junior College, Radford University, and received her master’s degree from George Peabody Conservatory of Music. She served in the Women’s Army Corps for 1½ years.

Mrs. Alexander taught school in Sugar Grove, Mount Jackson, Ponape Island in the U.S. Trust Territory, and Stonewall Jackson High School in Mount Jackson, for a total of 31 years. She was a member of Manor Memorial Methodist Church in New Market.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert G. Alexander Sr.; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Pleasants of Fredericksburg and Jane A. Dellinger of Nitro, W.Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Chaplain Roger Vaught will conduct the funeral 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson. A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at Felts Memorial Cemetery in Galax.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
