Jane M. Alexander, 73


Jane Montgomery Alexander, 73, of Luray, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 16, 2007. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Jack. Jane is survived and cherished by two daughters, Debbie Worley of Burke, Va., and Vicki Stenhouse and husband, Walt, of Lake Monticello, Va.; five grandchildren, Katie Worley, Erin Worley, Eric Schmitz, Brett Schmitz, and Nick Schmitz; one great-grandson, Jack Schmitz; two sisters, Francis Hammer of Luray and Evelyn Wright of Annapolis, Md.; and a very special nephew, Buddy Sours and his wife, Carol, who most lovingly have adopted Jane’s cherished dog; her nieces, Diane Hilliard, Julie Jadick and Lisa Wright and nephew, Bill Wright.

Jane was born in Luray in 1933, the daughter of Ernest Jackson Montgomery and Katye Fay Zirlke Montgomery. She lived in Luray until her marriage, after which she lived for a short time in California, ultimately settling with her husband, Jack, in Northern Virginia, where they raised their children and lived until Jack’s retirement. They then enjoyed 14 wonderful years of retirement at Lake Anna until Jane moved home to Luray in 2003, following Jack’s death.

Funeral services will be held on Feb. 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
