Ruth N. Albrecht

Ruth Nancy Erb Albrecht, 88, of Oak Lea Nursing Home, Harrisonburg, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Albrecht was born April 24, 1915, in Wellesley, Canada, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Nancy Bast Erb.

In 1924, her family moved to Western New York State. She attended Eastern Mennonite School in her youth. In 1961, she and her husband moved to the Harrisonburg area. She served on the Women’s Auxiliary of Gideons International for approximately 20 years and was an active participant at the Mennonite Media Ministries. She was an active member of Park View Mennonite Church as long as her health allowed.

On April 24, 1938, she married Emmanuel Albrecht, who preceded her in death in 1983.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Albrecht of Reston, Karen Splinter-Albrecht of Amsterdam, and Mary Abel, Alden, N.Y; a son, James Albrecht, East Aurora, N.Y.; a sister, Barbara Schrock of Alden, N.Y.; two brothers, Joe Erb, Darien Center, N.Y., and Ezra Erb, Goshen, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Park View Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at Lindale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
