Calvin M. Aitken, 69


Calvin Milans Aitken, 69, of Massanutten, and formerly of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, died March 8, 2008, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Aitken was born April 17, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the son of the late David Allen and Jean Milans Aitken. He was also preceded in death by a son, Russell Aitken, a brother, David Aitken, and a sister, Anabel Newkirk.

Mr. Aitken served in the National Guard and was a self-employed Custom Builder in St. Croix.

On July 11, 1959, he married Linda Barner, who survives.

Survivors also include one son, Steven D. Aitken and wife, Kelly Trippe of Washington, D.C.; brother-in-law, David Barner and wife, Claudia, of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Diane Szerejka of Burlington, Conn.; one grandson, William D. Aitken; and two special friends, Tammy Blizzard and Jonas Skolnick.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March, 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with the Rev. Wayne Wright officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
