Michael Aguirre, 91, of Capon Bridge WV (formerly of Grayslake, IL) passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Spring
Arbor in Winchester, VA.
A private service will be held by his family at a later date.
Michael was born in Chicago, IL on January 15, 1932, a son of the late Miguel and Mary Flores Aguirre. He was a
graduate of Northwestern University and went into finance after college. Michael served in the US Army and National
Guard for 13 years as a Private 1st Class where he served as a Pay Master while traveling all over the world. He was
fluent in 5 languages. Afterward, Michael became a cosmetologist and owned a successful salon in Glencoe, IL,
which served some of Chicago’s most notable society members. He was a member of the St. Gregory’s Episcopal
Church in Deerfield, IL. Michael loved traveling, gardening, and living life to the fullest with the love of his life, Hazel
Dooley Aguirre. They were married for 39 years prior to Hazel’s passing in 2020. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his siblings Aurora Krinch, Sandra Aguirre, Angie Robinson, and Lucy Reyna.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Jeanette Dooley of Capon Bridge, WV with whom he
resided; his sister-in-law Mellie “Bea” Pleasants of Luray, VA, along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Blue
Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
