Lawrence W. Agnew

Lawrence Ward Agnew, 88, a resident of Sunnyside Retirement Community in Harrisonburg since 1991, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004.

Mr. Agnew was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Springfield, Ill., and was the son of the late Theodore and Mary Helen Priestman Agnew.

He graduated from the University of Illinois and retired as an accountant in the treasurer’s department of Reynolds Metals (now ALCOA) in Richmond.

Mr. Agnew was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder for many years. He was a former member of Massanutten Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ada Lindsey Agnew, whom he married in 1932; a son, Lawrence W. Agnew Jr. of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Mary Lindsey Crute and Kathleen Agnew, both of Richmond; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

His body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Sunnyside Chapel. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Richmond.
