Virginia M. Adams, 83


Virginia Maxine Good Adams, 83, of Beaufort, S.C., died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Adams was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Elkhart, Ind., and was the daughter of the late Dennis L. Good and Alda Elliott Good.

She graduated from James Madison University and served in the Women’s Army Corps as an X-ray technician from 1942-1944. She taught at the Laurel Bay Primary School for 21 years and had previously been an art teacher at John H. Russell Elementary in Quantico.

As a volunteer over a number of years, she retrieved and filed many thousands of local newspaper obituaries for the Beaufort County Library, a resource now used by researchers worldwide.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, John A. Adams, USMC (Retired); two sons, Dennis and John Jr., all of Beaufort, S.C.

A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Beaufort National Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charities of the donor’s choice.
