Richard Adams

Richard "Tommy" Adams, 56, Hot Springs, died Jan. 7, 2003, at his residence.

Mr. Adams was born June 26, 1947, in Bath County, and was a son of the late Richard R. "Dick" Adams and Ernestine N. Adams.

He was a retail manager for several stores throughout Bath County. He worked for Safeway Foods for many years and was the union director for the AFL-CIO. He was a graduate of Fort Defiance High School and a member of Faith Covenant Family Church in Hot Springs.

Surviving are a son, Richard Adams Jr. of Harrisonburg; a daughter, Colette Vita of Harrisonburg; a brother, Roger Lee Adams of Weyers Cave; ex-wife Janet Adams Miller of Harrisonburg; and a longtime companion, Joyce Ryder of Hot Springs.

Pastor Steve Shaver and Donald Lee Altizer will conduct a memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Hot Springs.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
