Cemetery Notes

Cemetery is enclosed by a fence. This cemetery has three distinct sections to it. Section 2 is the closest to the church and was recorded rows from the street side to the back (west to east) and headstones from left to right. Section 1 is next and it runs diagonally from the back side of the church toward the street and headstones are recorded from left to right. Section 3 is the furthest from the church and the rows are recorded from the back to the front side toward the road, and headstones are recorded from left to right. There are two small marble markers in this cemetery which designate locations of the older churches. The marker in Section 2 reads, "Trissels 1900 site of 2nd Trissels Mennonite Church 40' x 50' frame structure." The marker in Section 3 reads, "Trissels C 1822 site of 1st meeting house in Virginia built solely by Mennonites 20' x 25' log structure."
