Cemetery Notes
In 1967 J. Robert Swank noted "The Whites are to be commended for placing a stone wall around the plot and preserving it. It is not known the extent of the original plot. The settlement of the John R. Homan estate in 1883 by Alex Kerr gives the following names: Mary L. Homan, J. H. Riddle & wife, J. H. Jordon & wife, Chas. E. Homan, Frank D. Homan, Wm. D. Homan & G. W. McFarland & wife Dorcas L. Marriage record of John R. Homan to Deborah Riddle (dau. of John Riddle) 13 June 1827, to Margaret Moore (dau. of Charles Moore) 4 Sept 1821, to Mary Dyer (dau. of Margaret Riddle & Wm. Dyer Sr.) 28 Dec 1837."
The Original stones/markers were removed (exact date unknown) by the current property owners. They were placed in the Broadway town maintenance yard where they remained for a few years. In October 2021 they were taken to the nearby Hohman Family Cemetery where they are now located. Only the stones/markers are there. The graves remain at the original location on Skymont Drive in Broadway. A flat marker in front of the property owner’s residence is all that is left.
