Shirley Cullers Miller noted: I have made a list of the people that I have found to be buried in this cemetery and I am including the list for a record to be preserved. She recorded the following: The following deed from the Hardy County Deed Books records the gift of the grave yard from Cyrus Dove to the relatives and neighbors. THIS DEED made this 20th day of Dec. 1923, between Cyrus Dove and Margaret L. Dove, his wife, of the County of Hardy, State of W. Va., of the first part, and David A. Smith, Angus W. Dove and Harvey W. Whetzel of the county of Hardy, and State of W. Va., and George M. "Lafe" Dove and William A. Hottinger of the county of Rockingham State of Va., of the second part, WITNESSETH: That for and in consideration of their mutual love and good will, and their generous respects for the dead now buried here. The said Cyrus Dove and Margaret L. Dove, his wife, does grant unto the said parties of the second part "a free gift". The use of a certain tract or parcel of land, known as the Cyrus Dove Grave Yard, and bounded as follows, to wit: BEGINNING 5 feet east of a chestnut tree in said grave yard, thence running S. 49 1/2 W. 6 1/2 poles. Thence N. 40 1/2 W 3 1/2 poles. Thence N. 49 1/2 E 6 1/2 poles. Thence S 40 1/2 E. 3 1/2 poles, passing said chestnut tree to the beginning, containing 24 poles. To have and to hold with ingress and egress as now established and their heirs forever. And the said Cyrus Dove and Margaret L. Dove, his wife, reserved unto them selves, and their heirs the same privileges granted unto the said parties of the second part. Witness the following signatures and seals. His (mark) Cyrus X Dove -State of West Virginia county of Hardy, to wit: I, J. W. Dove a Notary in and for the county and state aforesaid do certify that Cyrus Dove, whose name is signed to the foregoing deed, and bearing date the 20th day of December 1923, has this day acknowledged the same before me in my said county.
